Every time I photograph at Fetcham Park I discover different areas, details and light that I haven’t found before. It’s such a joy to work there; the atmosphere is amazing and the guests are always enjoying themselves! And the staff at the house make the working day a complete pleasure for me too.
I was delighted when Alice and Adam got in touch, particularly when I found out they had a special connection to Fetcham and the house: not only do they and their family live in the village but Alice’s Uncle was a pupil at the house when it was known as ‘Badingham College’!
As they live in the village, it also meant that they could get married in St Mary’s church – where Alice attended Sunday school – and which is literally next to Fetcham Park. What could be more perfect than leaving from the house to walk past the front fountain, up the stone steps and into the church? Watching the bridal party make their way across was very special and I spotted Laura Caudery, Fetcham’s owner, watching them retrace the same steps she’d taken as a bride. You can really feel the personal touch whenever you’re at the house and it’s never felt more special than it did on Alice & Adam’s day, perhaps because of all the lovely connections the couple, their family and friends all shared with Fetcham itself.
Continuing the theme of things being different every time I photograph there, I loved seeing Alice’s colour scheme: a gorgeous mocha colour for the bridesmaids, complimented with green and white for the tables and the flowers – which were lovingly done by Alice’s mum. Other details included a fantastic table plan made by one of their guests, a great selection of sweet treats in pretty jars for after the wedding breakfast and some fab Alphabet bags for the bride and her bridesmaids.
I thoroughly enjoyed my day with these two lovely families – there were so many laughs, and so much love. Thanks for letting me share the day with you Mr and Mrs Johnstone.
